CMGT’s CEO, Dr. Layalee Beirat, a Palestinian-American attended the tree planting ceremony in celebration of the National Arab American Heritage Month on April 30. This event was organized by the City of Chicago‘s Director of Environmental Innovation Department of Health, Raed Mansour. April is also the month we celebrate Earth Day and Arbor (Tree Planting) Day. We are grateful to be included and invited to this first year event to show our diversity and passion for the environment. We look forward to participating again next year.

On April 28, CMGT participated at Arab American Heritage Month Celebration located at Rubio Woods. At our table, we proudly displayed a Palestinian Olive Tree art created by our very talented member, Maria Zaragoza. We would like to thank organizers, Running Refugees, MSA (Muslim Student Association) Moraine Valley College, the host Forest Preserve of Cook County for including us. We’d love to participate again in the future to celebrate our diversity.
