On June 29, CMGT organized a healing with art in nature event at Caldwell Wood collaborated with Wayfinding, and supported by the Forest Preserve of Cook County.
This event was led by CMGT CEO Layalee Beirat, Rebecca Hunter from Wayfinding, and Program Manager Maria Zaragoza. Rebecca shared interesting history and facts about Caldwell Wood. We want to promote the Woods because many people pass by it but do not know much about it. At the event, Maria who is also an Art instructor and facilitator taught us her special painting technique with watercolor.
She also shared interesting books, including a book about African’s traditional way to encourage men to cry out their feelings in front of their group. From this Art event, CMGT aims to empower our community members, especially women of color to be strong by being together outdoor, in nature, to share our life stories and creativities.
