On May 13, the CMGT participated in the Chicago River Day at Kickapoo Woods, Forest Preserve Cook County organized by the Friends of the Chicago River.
The CMGT is proud of our dedicated volunteers who worked along other volunteers to clean up the preserve. We removed lots of plastics, styrofoam, and other waste including golf balls from the preserve.
During and after the clean up we learned interesting things about Kickapoo Woods. For example, it is one of the designated areas to fly model airplanes. It is also a place where we can find houses for bat maternity colonies installed in the Chicago River system.
At the end of our volunteer day, we enjoyed the after party and visited the nearby Art and Craft Fair.
