On February 29, the Chicago Muslims Green Team (CMGT) collaborated with the Abrahamic Center for Cultural Education (ACCE) to host an online event to motivate, inspire, and work with our beloved Muslim communities in greening our holy month of Ramadan.
The ACCE is an initiative of the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) that provides services, gallery, library, and events dedicated to enriching the discussion on the Abrahamic traditions.
The event was moderated beautifully by Briana Thomas from the ACCE. The two presentations were delivered by Caroline Williams and Fizza Razvi from the CMGT. Caroline focused on how the Palestinians inspire us to do good for the environment despite their ongoing battle for freedom from the Israeli occupation and systemic environmental injustice. Fizza shared her wealth of experience, wisdom, and tips in greening Ramadan in practice at her mosque, Baitul Ilm Academy in Streamwood, Illinois.
It was an honored for the the CMGT to work with the ACCE. We are looking forward to continue working together in practicing our faith to protect our Earth and the environment.
