Kayak at Forest Preserve

Join us as we take part in kayaking event with the Forest Preserves of Cook County (FPCC) along the Des Plaines River.

This program, which is run by the Forest Preserves, is free of charge and organized for the Chicago Muslims Green Team community to experience our region’s rivers in a new and fun way.

Our partner in these events is SUM, an organization that makes it easy for everyone to find their place outside by creating restorative outdoor experiences for all.

Des Plaines River Paddle

Tuesday, August 22
2pm – 7pm
Meeting Point: Bemis Woods North (Click HERE to see the map)

This is an all-afternoon paddle for up to 15 people. Equipment is limited, so space is limited. We will be on the water the entire time, and explore the Des Plaines River as it flows through the western suburbs.

NOTES:

    • Drinks and snacks allowed.
    • There are only 15 spaces available. Please let us know if someone changes plan or cannot come.
    • This activity is limited to people over 12 years old because it is a multi-hour paddle.
    • The kayaks are for two people, and everyone is required to be able to paddle.
    • Once we start the trip down the river, there’s no going back to shore unless it’s an emergency. However, it is possible that we can stop for bathroom break or afternoon pray.
    • It’s not required for everyone to know how to swim. Of course, knowing how to swim is helpful.
    • There will be life jackets and everyone must wear a life jacket.
