Layalee Beirat

Layalee Beirat started off planting trees with Openlands as a volunteer from the Chicago Muslim Green Team (CMGT) in fall 2022. Not only giving back to the community was of interest, but also working with genuine people that share the same interest in helping the environment made her join the CMGT’s executive team.

Back in 2015, she helped organize a student conference at Moraine Valley Community College to help inspire over 200 students future success with her Phi Theta Kappa’s honors society team. She received an international award as Vice President for being recognized as “most distinguished team” in Washington DC, 2016.

She recently completed her Tree Ambassador Training and currently is working for Arcadia, an energy industry that offers price protection and green alternatives for homes and businesses. Her passion in her business is helping people to connect to solar energy to a nearby solar farm instead of installing solar panels on rooftop. This not only helps lower bill costs but also benefits the environment.

Living in Palestine for over 6 years has inspired her in wanting improvement in environmental services that include waste and recycle. After moving back to the states in 2014, she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021.

Her passion for the environment has steared her back to being involved within the community.

She enjoys volunteering, working out, hiking, volley ball, running and planting.
