CMGT Team Leaders, Caroline K. Williams , Emelda Lawson Bekkal, and Khawlah N. Hammad had a great time learning about Timebanking concept and enjoying nature and facilities at North Park Village Nature Center on May 1st, 2019.
Amaris Alanis Ribeiro, Center Director and Elizabeth Holley, Program Specialist at the park were very welcoming host. They introduced us to the facility through their interesting presentation about the Urban Nature Center and the new Programming Themes.
Mike Strode, Exchange Coordinator from Kola Nut Collaborative was a skilled training facilitator. He covered the history and different aspects of Timebanking and demonstrated how the Kola Nut Collaborative platform works.
He explained that Timebanking is a new concept with old roots. It’s a way of exchanging time and resources and a platform for networking that helps people collaborate and engage with each other. Within the Timebanking system, value is given to things that are not necessarily valued in financial markets, e.g., spiritual experiential, cultural capital.
