On June 15, 2023, CMGT participated in Intro to Kayaking at Trailside Nature Center, River Forest. This free event and all the logistics were organized and facilitated by the Forest Preserve of Cook County (FPCC) and SUM, an organization which makes it easy for everyone to find their place outside by creating restorative outdoor experiences for all.
It was a great opportunity for families and people new to paddling to try it out in a low stress environment, and to learn more about paddling opportunities in Cook County. All ages are welcome and they could show up anytime between 3-6 PM.
The FPCC also provided free bus to pick up attendees from Masjid Al Farooq. We had 45 attendees from diverse background and country of origins, like Indonesia, Palestine, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Nigeria, Mali, India, Pakistan, and Yemen. Everyone said, they had a great time.
