On Saturday, July 13, CMGT organized the Tree Ambassador (TA) Training with the 26th Ward in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. After the Zoom training, our diverse and highly motivated TAs started canvassing early in the morning, knocked on doors to engage with residents, and helped them to request free trees from the City using the CHI311 App. We greatly appreciate our partners and supporters who continue working together with us to expand tree canopy equitably in the City of Chicago.
On October 6, CMGT Tree Ambassadors (TAs) were in Humboldt Park (HP) neighborhood to go canvassing, promoting Our Roots Chicago program, and offering new free trees to residents. Before we went out, we had a presentation and discussion indoor led by Ela, our new trainer. Our dedicated TAs have requested more than 100 trees in HP neighborhood since our first training there in July. We visited some trees that have been planted by the City, per our requests. Our next plan is to collect the data on those new trees using the Canopy Count tool provided by the CRTI (Chicago Region Tree Initiative) in order to measure the impact of our effort in creating environmentally resilient neighborhoods in Chicago.
It was a great Tree Ambassadors (TA) training on November 3 in the Humboldt Park neighborhood organized by CMGT, led by Trainer Ela, attended by Melinda from CRTI Tree Ambassador Program to share updates on technical aspects of the CHI311 App and our TA program achievements. From the training, we contributed 20 tree requests on 14 lots.
